VICTOR CLEMENTE

Introducing Spanish artist, Victor Clemente. Cover picture: Colliers

“My name is Víctor Clemente, I was born in a tiny village in Extremadura and later moved to Madrid to study Fine arts and started working on my paintings, I won my first Award (Canson Art School Awards) when I was 18 which took me to exhibit my work in Paris, and also made it to exhibit in some places around Spain, I also Worked simultaneously in La Fresh Gallery, in Madrid, where I met an Artist and went work for him as his assistant in Palm era Estudio, In Barcelona, I´m very interested in researching techniques such as oil and Watercolor, even tho I´m quite focused on oil at the moment. As we all know, being a queer person and coming from a small town can sometimes leave a mark, that is why my artistic universe revolves around sex-affective relationships and daily situations in which I have been involved, caused or been a victim of, most of them being out of my control. To try to represent all this, I help myself with the religious iconography with which I was raised (which I deny today) and with texts included in the works. Sometimes the text being instigated by the work, as the other way around.” – Victor

Don’t look at me like that
There’s no rush
Don’t leave me on my knees
Football player
Heavy weight
I bit off
It came at night
The tower
You shall not
I am the Lord
