“For me, photographing means creating a relationship, a bond. Not only with the photographed subject, but also with the environment (yours and/or the one in which we meet), the past (mine and yours), the books we have read, the recurring dreams, the sex practiced, the desired one, the loves that are in the heart, those that have left us. The ghosts, the visions. The soundtracks that accompany us. Because photography is not only a creative act, it is almost a necessity, indeed an urgency to communicate what words cannot. The need to translate instinct and the blind into something concrete. Art through these encounters becomes my/our way of expressing ourselves and affirming a voice. Here we do not seek beauty, but sincerity. We tell beautiful and at the same time dramatic stories: Mine becomes theirs and vice versa. We do not follow patterns and canons.” – Gio
