“For his 30th, my friend Alex treated himself to something he’d talked about for years: a portrait in pure light and shadow.
On weekdays he’s an engineer in London, guiding invisible data above the grey rooftops, but deep down he’s still the kid who ran barefoot through sudden tropical rain and chased the last glow of the sun under palm trees. Born in a small town between São Paulo and Rio, he carries both places inside him – São Paulo’s relentless drive and Rio’s carefree spirit.
I asked Alex to let the afternoon sun carve patterns across his skin, just like it once slipped between the shutters of his childhood home. No flashy lights or complicated gear – only a single window and some old film.“
