“Noticing the beauty of people terrifies me. It stems from my teens, this idea that I am not worthy enough and that people who possess this beauty are better than me. I fear that something is going to go wrong if they notice me. But this fear is bleeding out. Working with photography helps me notice these outdated feelings in my body, and explore how gender stereotypes shape our perceptions of bodies. This project is dedicated to challenging traditional notions of masculinity and it’s the brainchild of the photographer and model duo “portrait.toes”.
