One more little extra, because you can never have enough. From remote Georgia in the mountains. Captured by Butu Bilikhodze, model: Romeo.
How did you find each other for the photo shoot? – Was there any preparation before shooting?
Butu: We have known each other for quite a long time and have collaborated before. Initially, it was merely a friendly hiking trip. This time, we wanted to try something more challenging, so we decided to see a glacier and enjoy nature from a height of 3000 meters above sea level. We had not planned anything for this photoshoot, we just went with the flow.
Romeo: That day, I was feeling down a little bit. We were not even sure if we were in the right mood to do a photoshoot. But at some point, when we arrived at that location, time seemed to suddenly stop, and I realized that the atmosphere aligned perfectly. The ambiance of the location resonated deeply with emotions, and inspiration arose unexpectedly. I asked Butu to try some shots.
Butu: Those spontaneous, unplanned shoots often result in some of the most beautiful and authentic images.
What was the first impression of each other?
Romeo: I remember his unique sense of humor. Sometimes it was shady, but it made me laugh. He had a memorable impact on me and left a positive impression.
Butu: Romeo has a magnetic personality, which made it easy for me to connect with him instantly. My first thought was that he is such a free spirit. After seeing him swimming so joyfully in the canyon water, I wanted to capture this essence on film. Happily, he is an easygoing guy and easy to work with on camera.
If there was – what was the most difficult thing during the shooting?
Butu: We always avoid populated areas and try to find places that offer solitude and tranquility. Concerning was the unexpected interaction with other people. In fact, as soon as we finished the photoshoot, a group of alpinists appeared on the mountain’s horizon.
Romeo: Personally, the cold environment posed the greatest challenge for me. Although I consider myself a resilient individual, at some point, it caused discomfort to my body, and I found it difficult to focus on my emotions.
Butu, what do you do when you are not photographing?
Interestingly, my everyday routine is quite distinct from the narrative I depict in my photography. My daily life consists of an office-based job that I have been working at for over a decade now. Like what most people go through, I get to experience so-called “work fatigue” from time to time and feel overwhelmed by office life, but I love what I do and the causes I serve, so I do not let those thoughts get through me.
Of course, I value my time with my friends and try to maintain a healthy balance of social life while seeking temporary escape from everyone to the wild ends of nature.
Romeo, what do you do when you are not modelling?
I am in my era of exploration, discovering new places primarily through hiking. I delight in nature’s surprises and enjoy documenting these trips with my camera so that I can relive those memories later. Dancing is essential to my self-expression, and clubbing is undoubtedly a significant part of my life.
What makes you happy?
Butu: It makes me happy to discover places distant from people, providing a sense of isolation from the outside world. Reaching that destination, hiking, and all the adventures along the way are joyful experiences. Adding the artistic element of nude photography to capture the raw beauty of both the landscape and the human form is an enriching experience. It is a bliss to create compositions that celebrate the beauty of the human form and the natural world.
Romeo: All I need for happiness are the people I love, going out with them, traveling, or just being surrounded by them. I prioritize meaningful connections and experiences with loved ones.
What turns you on?
Butu: The allure of the darker, more provocative, and even slightly vulgar aesthetic that coexists within a person arouses me. It is like exploring the depths of human desire and taboo, unlocking hidden layers of our most basic instincts and passions.
Romeo: I am drawn to people who embrace their individuality and exude confidence in who they are. Fierce people with a strong sense of identity easily turn me on. Charismatic personas ignite flames of passion within me.
