My name is Justin Goebgens, a 27-year-old artist, originally from Stuttgart but currently based in Berlin since 2017. I‘ve got a professional background in graphic design and a formal education in communication design.
Utilizing oil on canvas as my primary medium, I draw inspiration from graphic design principles to weave together elements of reality and fantasy in my work. My artistic exploration centers on the theme of physical intimacy between men, delving into narratives of identity, desire, and societal norms.
In my creations, I seek to provoke introspection by juxtaposing passion with taboo, thereby shedding light on the societal constraints imposed on same-sex intimacy and the resulting sense of shame. While the explicit nature of my paintings may evoke discomfort or challenge preconceived notions in individuals that harbour negativity towards it, they simultaneously serve as a affirmation of identity and love, portrayed in colorful manners.
