About Lorenzo
I’m Lorenzo Bevacqua, I work as editor video but I also love to experiment with photography, both taking pictures and modeling. I started as a child by shooting at random things with my sister and then, when I was a teenager, I quickly found out how to edit my pictures. Since we live in an ableist society, editing my wheelchair out of my photos was something I did on a daily basis, it was so natural for me since I was educated to hate disabilities in order to get accepted.
Exploring my sexual orientation thanks to internet and the world in it was something that pushed me to move away and discover new places. So I moved to Milan to studying cinema and I just fell in love with fashion, movies, club life, queer culture. Then I ran into disability rights and intersectional feminism: my mind was completely blown away, and I connected the dots.
I decided to use AI to generate all those images that people don’t see on social media and mainstream medias due to the ableist society we’re living in. They make it difficult for disabled models to make it to the casting, for actors with disabilities to thrive and tell their stories in movies, and I won’t be here any longer watching all those talents thrown away.
I created this project ‘LOVE ME ON THE DANCEFLOOR, FUCK ME IN THE BATHROOM’ to show the world one of our stories that is just not the common helpless victim, the evil villain or the inspirational hero. We live, we fuck, we use our bodies to the very best of our abilities – don’t we all do the same?
