A real summer project, sun, sea, boys and more boys from France, captured by Mathias Chaillot.
about “Les garçons du Levant”
“I would have liked to show you more. But more, it would be everything; and everything is impossible.
The boys of Le Levant are shy, that’s all their ambiguity: nudity is only possible when total and shared. That’s the beauty of this naturist island in the mediterranean sea, where I go each summer with my friends. It’s because it’s without imageries, without filters and without edits that their nudity exists without complexes. Because it claims its discretion that it can be displayed without shame. It’s free because intimate, when the eyes that rest on it are accomplices, not voyeurs.
The naked truth of Le Levant resides in this contradiction, we only see it by living it, it dies if we show it. So you will only get a glimpse of it. A caress at daybreak, a breeze at dusk, figures distorted by the heat, bursts of bodies and laughters, befores and afters. Hardly enough to guess, but enough to fantasize.” – Mathias
