Back with something new, Juan de los Mares, Venezuelan but Barcelona based photographer after his first feature (find it here) on Pineapple he returned to show a new project, “Falsa Memoria”.
about FALSA MEMORIA
This series of photographs are part of my first photobook project (about to be published) called “Falsa Memoria”. Since the beginning of my career my main interest has been portraiture. With these images I wanted to have a less timid approach to the nude. In “Falsa Memoria” the images are connected with a fictional autobiographical story. The boys represent some characters / attributes they evoke of which I speak in the story, so that the selection of those portrayed was not random.
Esta serie de fotografías forman parte de mi primer proyecto fotolibro (próximo a publicar) llamado “Falsa Memoria”. Desde el principio de mi carrera mi interés principal ha sido el retrato. Con estas imágenes quise tener una aproximación menos tímida hacia al desnudo. En “Falsa Memoria” las imágenes están conectadas con un relatoautobiográfico ficcionado. Los chicos representan algunos personajes / evocan atributos de los que hablo en el relato, de manera que la selección de los retratados no fue aleatoria.

I saw Xavier for the first time in the photographs of a colleague who had previously worked with him. Her beauty seemed mesmerizing to me. This shooting was Xavi’s third collaboration with me and this is probably my favorite portrait of him.
A Xavier lo vi por primera vez en las fotografías de un colega que había trabajado previamente con él. Su belleza me pareció hipnotizante. Este shooting fue la tercera colaboración de Xavi y este es probablemente mi retrato favorito de él.

I discovered Albert through social networks, I saw his profile on Instagram and I became interested in him. The photos where he appears sitting with his legs in a triangular shape with a very neutral expression is my favorite image. I am very proud of that photo, it is the one that most closely resembles what I had previously imagined in my head, technically speaking.
A Albert lo descubrí a través de las redes sociales, vi su perfil en el feed de Instagram y me interesé por él. la foto donde aparece sentado con las piernas en forma triangular con una expresión muy neutra es mi imagen favorita, estoy muy orgulloso de esa foto, es la que se asemeja más a lo que me había imaginado previamente en la cabeza, técnicamente hablando.

With Adso something similar happened to me, I saw it in the portfolio of another photographer and then I checked his profile on Instagram. I was very interested in his corporal expression. The photos I took with him are a remake of images that he had shared on his social networks. My main interest was that there be a record in images of what I liked about him.
Con Adso me sucedió algo similar, lo vi en el portafolio de otro fotógrafo y luego revisé su perfil en Instagram. Me interesó mucho su expresión corporal. las fotos que hice con él son un remake de imágenes que él había compartido en sus redes sociales. Mi interés principal era que quedara un registro en imágenes de lo que me gustaba de él.

I met Hamington through mutual friends. He worked in a place that I used to visit. I also knew that he was a dancer on a cruise and with that information it was clear to me that it would fit into my project. On the day of the shooting he had a back injury, however I managed to get the photo I was looking for thanks to Hamington’s commitment to the shooting.
A Hamington lo conocí a través de unos amigos en común. Trabajaba en un lugar que yo solía frecuentar. Supe también que era bailarín en un crucero y con ese dato me quedó claro que encajaría en mi proyecto. El día del shooting él tenía una lesión en la espalda, sin embargo logré conseguir la foto que estaba buscando gracias al compromiso de Hamington con el shooting.
