About the photographer, Andrea Vanía

I have always had an unwavering need to give an aesthetic representation to emotions. As a dancer and choreographer I use the human form and spaces performed in as a way to interpret music. To understand the human body in movement I also engage in drawing to define andunderstand the tensions and harmonys involved. Being an art director in advertising, visualizing concepts through imagery has always been a part of my daily challenge, through the prism of emotions I look for intense and unique representations, powerful yet delicate ones. As a dreamer and free creator of visions I’ve set up art scenes for video clips and for shooting sets, for music and fashion.

Dance, fashion and advertising are my ordinary creative fields, and places to develop my own personal vision for emotions. In 2018 I started to explore my personal esthetic view, without any restraints for a final client request. A very intense and honest work exploring the naked body, speaking about his power and his fragility, and finding connections with different kinds of environments and especially with different lights. Photography is now the most emotional means of expression for me, an instant captured in time giving to the observer the wider range of possible imaginary worlds through time and space.

Ho sempre sentito il bisogno di dare una rappresentazione fisica alle emozioni, una vera e propria sete di immagini. Come ballerino e coreografo ho interpretato la musica e lo spazio attraverso il corpo. Poi il disegno: per raccontare il corpo umano in movimento, la tensione, l’armonia. Come art director, nella pubblicità, la visualizzazione di concetti per immagini diventa la mia sfida quotidiana, passa attraverso il coinvolgimento emotivo, la ricerca di scene intense, delicate o ruggenti, ma sempre in grado di imprimere una memoria in chi guarda. Come sognatore sono un libero creatore di visioni nei videoclip e nei set fotografici per la musica e per la moda.

E così crescendo tra danza, moda e pubblicità ho cercato spazi per raccontare le emozioni attraverso le immagini. Nel 2018 inizio a esplorare un’estetica personale, senza mediazioni con un committente finale. Un lavoro intimo e intenso di scoperta del corpo nudo, della sua potenza e della sua fragilità. La sua relazione con la luce e con l’ambiente. La fotografia diventa il mezzo che mi emoziona di più in assoluto, un istante congelato, che lascia all’immaginazione tutto il tempo e lo spazio di cui ha bisogno.
