RYAN LANCHEUD

A Spanish artist, graphic designer, photographer, poet based in Barcelona, presents you an explicit erotic visual series called Uncomfortably Comfortable In A Troubled Cybernetic Utopia. Let’s Ryan Lancheud entertain you for a while.

Back when my youth sprouted, it was the start of my progressive isolation from the real world and dive deep in the virtual cosmos. It contained a wide, never-ending universe filled with imagination, and fantasies that I never imagined were possible for me, a socially awkward introverted loner.

I remember when I found out what were those beefcake magazines from the fifties & sixties and became obsessed with this type of erotica that surrounds the male physique, especially homoeroticism. Since then, my sexuality bloomed ferociously and felt the need to express myself through self-portraits in any kind of aesthetics I wanted to reflect to.

Nonetheless, it changelled how I perceive and feel about my appearance, my body, my architecture, because I didn’t fit -still don’t nowadays- in the recurrent normative standards. Thus it became harder and harder to find acceptance in myself, to stop seeking validation through digital strangers to fill my fiery desires, to feel enough to be desired or attracted.

By putting myself in an awkward position, I discovered comfort in the discomfort. That’s why this is my graphic statement. An expression about self-assurance, being unapologetic, freed by complexes. That in order to set my worth, I must learn to be on my own skin and it’s where freedom is located; the inner peace. – Ryan
