JOSÉ PEDRO GODOY

Loud colors, beautiful boys, exotic locations and playfulness – it all comes to mind about José Pedro Godoy paintings. This great Chilean artist was already in PNPPL zine 02, but now he’s finally here on the website with his two series.

Story of the Eye

“This is a series of drawings and paintings which illustrates “History of the Eye” by George Bataille, a novel that follows and describes the erotic excess and perversion of two teenagers.” – José Pedro Godoy

The Beautiful Room is Empty

“This is a site specific work mounted inside an abandoned residential building of Santiago Downtown. Inside a bedroom, I painted a pink surface and hung on it a drawing series which represents different poses that the body acquires when doing intimate activities, precisely within the privacy of a room or a bathroom. All portrayed were men, but the pink color refers to the feminine and the tradition of representing women in intimate situations, where the viewer is a voyeur (man, of course) who spies on the woman, and she is always thought as an object.” – José Pedro Godoy
