It took a long time to convince, but finally Sebastian Perinotti is here on Pineapple. Enjoy his series ‘Tadzio in Venice’, – a mix of polaroids and analogue photography with his handsome model, Tadzio.

“I am eternally drawn to the immediacy of the Polaroid. In my work the viewer comes across subjects in found and created situations alike. It is always a difficult question to answer who these subjects are; in the most general sense I would best describe my subjects as lovers, friends and fellow artists. My subjects don’t necessarily act as my friends in the photographs, I usually don’t photograph them as friends. They are impersonators of their own and my ideas for an image. I see my subjects as accomplices in the creation of images. While I do direct my subjects in a certain way, it is equally vital for a component of chance to be present; I try to make my subjects loose inhibitions in front of the camera while at the same time remaining aware of the whole practice. The immediacy of the medium I choose to work with allows me to share, almost instantly, the results with my subjects. I try to respect the image each of my subjects has of themselves; I try to capture my subjects in a place in between this image they have of themselves and their true pure self.” – Sebastian Perinotti

“En mi obra, el espectador se encuentra con sujetos en situaciones encontradas y creadas por igual. En el sentido más general, los sujetos en mis fotografías, podrían ser descriptos como amantes, amigos u otros artistas. Mis sujetos no actúan necesariamente como mis amigos en las fotografías, normalmente no son fotografiados como amigos. Veo a mis sujetos como cómplices en la creación de imágenes. Aunque dirijo a mis sujetos de cierta manera, es igualmente vital que un componente del azar esté presente. Intento hacer que mis sujetos pierdan inhibiciones frente a la cámara y al mismo tiempo permanezcan conscientes de toda la práctica. La inmediatez del medio con el que elijo trabajar, la fotografía instantánea, me permite compartir los resultados con mis sujetos durante nuestra sesión. Intento respetar la imagen que cada uno de mis sujetos tiene de sí mismos. Intento capturar a mis sujetos en un lugar entre esta imagen que tienen de ellos mismos y su verdadero ser.” – Sebastian Perinotti
