Opened just over a year ago, the @Boysinthemoonlight Instagram account brings together part of Raphael Pinheiro photographic work. Boys caught in their intimacy, in their simplest apparatus. A mixture of sensuality and sexuality.

It was therefore time to group and put these photos on paper, in order to really match his choice of film, and not to have any concerns of censorship imposed by the social network. Pineapple happy to inctroduce Raphael’s first too mini books, ‘First Issue’ and ‘In Bed With’. From today, both books avaiblable at Pineapple’s webshop – while stock least. “Thought as a continuity to Instagram and a prelude to the exhibition (unfortunately cancelled due to the consequences taken against the Covid-19), this zine has the primary desire to present my work in another form. A format that seems to me all the more suitable for this choice of film that completely accompanies the zine except for the first series made digitally because this is my very first session. A period of great reflection that led me to bring out a device that had been around for too long and whose use was confined to taking landscapes twice a year. I had at the time this sexfriend who gladly accepted to be taken in pictures without even knowing what it would give, and after a few hours playing between the camera and the subject, I understood what had attracted me so much in photography. I had captured that moment. And even if I still don’t agree to let my mother photograph me on birthdays or other events, I understand a little more when she takes out her camera to capture those moments. I wanted to share this session with you, because it’s the very first one. The one that made me want to continue despite all the failures that could follow due to my ignorance of the material (thanks the tutorials).

Some of you, « if you’re following me for a while », will recognize some pho- tos of this session but will still be able to discover another part never unveiled, as well as the following sessions composed by fabulous people with whom I shared a moment, an afternoon or a weekend and where we were able to make all these pictures.
