“The Empire of Angels” is a philosophical reflection on the earthly and the sublime, on human passions and dreams, on spiritual impulses and opportunities about the soul and its shell, about the present and the eternal.
Bernard Werber’s novel “The Empire of Angels” was the starting point for the journey into the world of dreams, illusions and philosophical reflections. Anton created his own “Empire of Angels”, where there are all seven archangels canonically defined by Christianity. Besides them there is also an angel, the soul and eternal opponents – the Holy Spirit and the Satan. Each work is filled with many metaphysical symbols and signs that surround and support the famous religious images.
The project is not about the modern interpretation of religion. Collages are framed by prints of antique Venetian frames, which emphasize the ideas of high Renaissance about the human. About the internal struggle with ourselves, about the search of own path, about the strength of spirit and the spiritual quest.
