How did you met?

River and I both are friends of Valentin Braun and I saw photos of them together and I asked Valentin about River. Then in july 2018 River came to Berlin and contacted me and we did our first shoot.

How happened the organization for Pineapple shooting?

I was in Montreal inJanuary to visit my partner and I asked River, if he wanted to hang out while I was in town.

Was there any preparation before shooting?

No, it was completely spontaneous.

First imression of each others?

Straight away I was taken by his kindness, gentleness and inner and outer beauty.

What was the most difficult thing during the shooting?

We shot in a public restroom in a huge, busy business building during office hours. As you can imagine, there was a lot of regular traffic. So we had to pause and be quiet, every time someone entered the room. It got pretty comical at times and we were laughing a lot. We found out that the noise of flushing the toilet while shooting was masking our noises pretty well though.

Why in a toalet?

River and me met in a cafe to catch up. when I went to the toilet, directly after River had returned from it, he told me to have a look and tell him what I thought. And entering the room, I immediately knew what he meant: a white tiled room, the stalls not too narrow, and ok-ish lights. I came up and said: wanna shoot? And thats what we did. Luckily I had my camera on me that day. I always wanted to do a shoot in a public toilet though. They have been such an important part of our gay past, and that part of gay history has disappeared completely. My friend, the artist Marc Martin did an exceptional exhibition at the Schwules Museum in Berlin about public toilets and this shoot is my little contribution to not forget the past: https://www.schwulesmuseum.de/ausstellung/marc-martin-fenster-zum-klo-public-toilets-private-affairs/?lang=en the exhibition has been shown in Paris last year and this autum will be shown in Bruxelles.

Your favorite picture of the series is … and why?

The last one, where River is squatting on the toilet and is smiling into the camera. River has one of the most beautiful and infectious smiles ever.  every time I look at this photo, I am smiling too.

How did you met? – How happened the organization for Pineapple shooting? – Was there any preparation before shooting?

Florian, I love him 🙂 He is one of my favorite we met last summer in Berlin through a mutual friend. The shoot happened randomly. We were catching up somewhere in a really interesting cafe in Montreal and I went to the bathroom and thought it was a really cool one. He had his camera and I said to him ”what do you think?”…he was game then it was on!

First imression of each others?

My first impression of him was woah he’s tall and very handome then I got very nervous and shy, but the moment he opened the door and smile I was glad I was there.

What was the most difficoult thing during the shooting?

Nothing really I was comfortable that i just let go and had fun!

what was the most funny thing during the shooting?

People walking in and us trying to act normal, while I was naked in one of the cubes.

Your favorite picture of the series is … and why?

The one where I’m leaned in the dark corner with my butt up and my face hidden, I just love the forms and the way it feels almost like a statue.

What turnes you on?

It really depens on the guys, but usually butts drives me crazy.

What makes you happy?

Traveling.
