[anatol] – FLORIAN HETZ

ELEVASTOR, the high-end concept store in the Le Marais district, opens its doors during “Paris Photo 2019” to present artworks by Berlin-based photographer Florian Hetz and his collaboration with the brand [anatol].

Much of Florian Hetz’s work deals with the absence of identity and intimacy. Memories of confusingly arousing moments, that many queer people experience without knowing how to read or act on them. The story takes place in your imagination rather than in the actual image. By taking close ups of seemingly normal body parts and gestures, Hetz brings the focus to their highly sexual undertone. His unique way of catching the body in action in a singular moment adds a new facet to common definitions about honesty and anonymity.

[anatol]’s vision is to create wearable artworks by interdisciplinarily collaborating with contemporary artists each season, emphasizing the mergence of diverse cultures. In „EDITION one: Buildings & Bodies“ for Spring/Summer 2020 the German-based brand is questioning if anonymity in our society is a blessing or a curse.

For this, [anatol] is working with images from Florian Hetz’s book “The Matter of Absence” combined with imagery of high-rise apartment buildings. The result is a limited capsule collection with a distinct concept and intense imagery. Implementing this topic into wearable artworks it becomes personal and subjective.

Being the latest addition to Paris’ most exciting concept stores, ELEVASTOR offers a cutting-edge selection of collections by emerging designers. In the heart of the Marais area, the brick and mortar location has spawned from the retailer’s e-commerce site, which launched in 2017.
Conceived by Thomas Guedj, ELEVASTOR is notable for its surprising stock, mixing technical streetwear with high-end couture. The store’s current roster includes brands such as Xander Zhou, JOHNLAWRENCESULLIVAN, Telfar, AVALONE, Maison the Faux, M1992, and Dilara Findikoglu.
