Fifty years ago, Denmark was the first country in the word to liberate porn. Today, new communities are keep the tradition alive, innovating it and pushing it in the future. A new generation of artists in two creative communities – Bedside & Morph – have come together for an ambitious project by the name “All Work No Play”, celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the liberation of porn.
“All Work No Play” will explore the male sexuality beyond identity. It will be an experiment in male relations and their potential for eroticism beyond the old tropes of porn. Its aim is to create new images for new ways of thinking about male sexuality.

“Pornographic representation and imagemaking, in a post-digital age, has defacto moved to the core of sexual education and has a major impact on the sexual behaviour of young people. The mainstream industry and production model, however, are deeply flawed as they feed and reinstate outdated narratives of oversimplified male archetypes. They rarely represent men with the wide range of emotional and physical traits that exist outside porn studios. At Morph, we’re interested in the power of images and their potential to catalyse social change.” – Morph
“We make porn without the bitter aftertaste that often follows the high. Usually this bitterness comes from a lack of information and transparency. Who made it? Did everyone give their enthusiastic consent? We’re the performers treated with dignity and given agency in the process? How are the working conditions? We want to manifest different takes on sex, eroticism and intimacy. We want to create a space for stories to be told by the people they concern, while maintaining a flexibility that allows all participants to create instinctively, contributing with their unique talents and experiences.” – Bedside

Below is an excerpt of an ongoing series created by Birk Thomassen, who is documenting the process, castings, exercises and experiments. This series could be the obvious content to show with the article, but we are very open to other directions as well.
