Henry Hung Chang is a Visual Artist based in New York. He was born into a spiritual family, and grew up in a temple founded by his grandparents in Taiwan.
As a kid, he was surrounded by folk arts and developed an interest in drawing. Chang’s work reflects on dreams and memories with reference to Tao and Buddhist philosophy. His pictures are his ritualistic acts to paint fears for impermanence, as well as to give his cosmological explanation for the actuality and the reality of life. He often speaks about hopes and beliefs in his storytelling. “People are often trapped by their misbelief in Karma and fate,”he states. “ The biggest fear in life is not having hopes.”
“I hope that my work brings viewers a bit of enlightenment,” he concludes.
