Thierry Jochum was born in Strasbourg, France, in 1981. After studying Applied Arts, he stands out from the contraints of design just in order to truly express himself and have fun with his brushes.
Inspired by erotics drawings of Egon Schiele and Gustave Klit, he concentrates on the human body. His work is articuled around sensuality and male sexuality. The penis is then depicted as a gun against the pejudices of the heterosexual norms. Painting ad exposing his paintings of naked men is for him a second coming-out as a gay man. He enjoys the differents reactions of the viewers: “It’s strange to see the viewers’ discomfort when they are faving my painting, though sexuality is all around us, in everyad, on every commercial, in every movie…! “ Eventhough sexting as become a habit, the male nudity still remains rare and singular in contemporary art, so Thierry uses it to strike his audience et start a new dialogue.
