PULKIT MOGHA

Unnatural
In India indulging in gay sex is a criminal offence. Homophobia is widely prevalent and queer minorities in India face harassment and abuse on account of these laws.

My work is simply derived from documenting sexual experiences in a country where it is forbidden. The photographs are mostly taken by a mobile phone and are of a voyeuristic and personal nature, taken spontaneously in the heat of the moment. Faces are concealed because they are a distraction in this series but also to protect the identities of those involved. The subject of the series is the act of sex and its expressions and not the people involved. In India the act of rebellion against the police state starts in our own bedrooms. – Pulkit Mogha
