“When I travel down to Texas to visit family, I take a point and shoot film camera. Once
the film from my stay is developed I collage imagery, mostly homoerotic, onto the digital scans.
After moving away from where I grew up, away from the cattle, the heat, and the
isolation I embraced myself as a sexually queer individual. With this lens I am able to see more
clearly the menacing quality of the landscape of my childhood.
By making these digital collages, I am at once able to insert my own sexual identity
through reappropriation of imagery I find arousing, bringing an ownership to the land that felt so
removed from me as a
YOUNG PERSON, AS WELL AS CREATING FANTASY
